For each World Cup prior to 1970, the cup was honored with a sticker of the official poster and a sticker of a group picture of the champion. Starting with the 1970 World Cup (the first year Panini issued World Cup stickers), there are stickers of individual players from the championship team and the runner-up. These stickers are reprints of the actual Panini stickers issued at the time. Needless to say, there are stickers of some of the best players in history. Far too many to list here. While similar in design to the 1994 World Cup Contenders set, of special significance is the fact that this set contains the only U.S.-issued cards of Gabriel Batistuta, Dergio Goycochea, Hristo Stoichkov and Saed Al Owairan, which were all omitted from the Contenders set because of licensing problems. In addition, this product also includes a complete set of 6 German National Team hologram cards (Klinsmann, Matthaus, etc.) which were normally only obtainable by getting a special prize card in packs of Upper Deck World Cup cards.
